Anyone know where I can buy a Linux laptop, i heard they were cheaper?

Im not talking about buying it online, i mean going into a computer store or something. I heard since Linux is free software that there laptops are generally cheaper, and nowadays you can find cheap laptops even with windows and stuff installed on it.. any ideas?

Linux is free, and Windows is about $ 40 when on a new computer. So you only save about $ 40. You can decide for yourself whether it’s worth it to not have any software you own work on your computer (although you can download replacements for most applications except games).
You can get netbooks for a few hundred dollars these days.

ok Linux does not make laptops Linux is the name of a FREE Unix based operating system that you can download Linux = operating system (like mac OSX or VISTA)

the only computers on the market to date the have a linux operating system are a few netbooks which are only really good for surfing the net and word documents

if you want a laptop with a linux operating system you will have to buy a laptop and install the linux operating system on it

and it is actually more expensive to get a computer that doesnt have windows on it because the companies that make the laptops (i.e. HP, Dell, Asus) are paid by microsoft to load windows on them befor they get shipped to stores

also if you really want to use linux you need to do some research it is by no means nearly as user friendly as windows you really need to know what your doing

If we knew geographically where you were located we could suggest some computer store. Are you in the U.S., Europe, Australia?
A linux computer might be only a few dollars cheaper. The software is definitely cheaper; free.
Do you realize that you cannot play all the windows games on linux unless you also install WINE and not All windows games run well on WINE?
Are you also prepared to read the manual and instructions on how to run linux because it is not the same as windows?
